About Me

Jasmin is a registered Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).

Jasmin’s qualifications include a Master of Social Work, Post-Graduate Diploma in Psychology and a Bachelor of Behavioural Science.  Jasmin’s postgraduate psychology thesis research on Posttraumatic Growth was published in the Canadian Journal of Counselling and the Journal of Traumatic Stress in 2005.  Posttraumatic Growth refers to the positive psychological change people experience following a traumatic or challenging life event (e.g. a traumatic childhood, loss of a loved one, surviving cancer).

Posttraumatic Growth occurs in five possible areas:

  1. Identifying new and exciting opportunities that have arisen from the traumatic event.
  2. Experiencing closer relationships and connections with others
  3. A sense of one’s own strength is increased
  4. A greater appreciation for one’s life
  5. A deepening of spiritual/religious beliefs or a change in belief system.

Jasmin has over 18 years’ experience providing support and intervention to adults across various government and non-government organisations.  Jasmin has utilised her research findings and knowledge on posttraumatic growth to work with people facing life challenges and assisted them to make/find positive changes as a result of their struggle, thus improving their quality of life.

Jasmin has worked in manager and practitioner positions in a variety of different community service fields including aged care, mental health, drug and alcohol, disability, child protection, corrective services, and employment.  Jasmin has a vast amount of experience in conducting assessments, providing counselling, advocacy, case management and care coordination.  Jasmin’s practice framework involves a strengths based, person centred approach.  Jasmin is able to be an advocate where necessary, focuses on enhancing quality of life, building capacity and empowerment while developing individual wellbeing.

I am a wife, mother and animal lover.

“I have the ability to work with people in a compassionate and respectful manner, by providing choice, creating space for empowerment and collaboration, while maintaining integrity”.
